Windows 3.0 PostScript Driver 3.4
with Hewlett-Packard LaserJet IIP, IID, III, IIID and IIISi WPDs
Installation Instructions
April 8, 1991
This disk contains the latest Windows PostScript driver, five Windows
Printer Description files (for the HP LaserJet IIP, IID, III, IIID,
and IIISi printers), and a PRINTER.INI file. The WPDs allow the driver
to access LaserJet features. You must install both the new Windows
PostScript driver as well as the appropriate WPD in order to access the
printer features. Finally, you must configure the printer port.
Instructions follow below.
If you wish to print these directions you MUST REMOVE the PostScript
cartridge from the printer. If you have a LaserJet IIISi, make sure it
is in PCL mode before printing this file.
To install the new PostScript driver and WPDs, follow these steps:
1. Start the Control Panel in Windows.
2. Click on Printers.
3. Click on Add Printer.
4. In the list of printers, highlight any PostScript printer (such
as the Apple LaserWriter).
5. Insert the disk you received from HP into the drive.
6. If you have a PostScript printer already installed, click on
New.
7. A dialog box will appear, asking for an updated PSCRIPT.DRV
file. Identify the drive containing the HP disk, then click
on OK.
8. Click on Configure.
9. Choose a printer port and click on Setup.
10. Click on Add Printer.
11. Identify the drive containing the HP disk, then click on OK.
12. Select the HP LaserJet IIISi V52.3 (or whichever printer you want)
and click on Add. If you wish, repeat this step to add other HP
LaserJet printers such as the HP LaserJet IIP, IID, III or IIID.
If the message:
"This printer has already been installed, replace with new"
appears, click on Yes.
13. Click on Done.
14. Click on the first drop down list box.
15. Scroll down until the HP LaserJet Printer you want is visible,
and select it.
16. Click on OK twice, until you return to the Printers screen.
17. At the Printers screen, click on Active.
18. Click on OK.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you have installed the HP LaserJet IIISi PostScript driver for the
LaserJet IIISi printer, the "SYS SWITCH" front panel option MUST be
set to "ON" (the factory default). Refer to the Users Manual for
instructions on how to set this option. The LaserJet IIISi PostScript
driver is intended for the LaserJet IIISi only. Printing will not
occur if it is used with any other PostScript printer.
